matter/Johnathan Flashcards
What is Matter?
Anything with mass and takes up space.
What is Chemistry?
It’s a scientific study of the composition, structure, and the properties of matter that the undergoes and rates the change,
What is Element?
Substance that can’t be seperated or broken.
What is Mixture?
Two or more substances that are combined but not chemically.
What is Pure Substance?
A sample of matter that is singled element or compounded that has physical properties and definitely chemical.
What is Chemical Formula?
Represents substance from the combination of numbers and chemical symbols.
What is Miscible?
Gasoline is composed of it and it’s a mixture of at least 100 liquids in it.
What is Immiscible?
Oil and water are together.
What is Homogeneous mixture?
Formed by sugar and water because of the components being evenly distributed.
What is Heterogeneous mixture?
Not evenly distributed like the flour doesn’t dissolve in the water.
What is a Atom?
Smallest unit of a element that also maintains the properties of the element.
What is a compound?
Made up of two or more atoms or more chemically element combined.
What is molecules?
Smallest unit on the substance that keeps all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance.
What is melting point?
The picture and pressure where a solid transforms into a liquid.
What is boiling point?
The temperature when a Liguria becomes a gas.
