Dispersion/spread of the scores away from the mean

IV = x axis
DV = y axis
What does a histogram display?
Range of values of a variable that have been broken into groups or
intervals
How to make a histogram?
Divide the data into intervals of equal length
Why will the bars touch in a histogram?
Data is describing one variable, across several different intervals
What is measures of dispersion?
Spread of data around a central value
e.g. mean, median, mode
Why would you use a standard deviation over a range?
Takes into account all of the scores in a data set whereas the range only takes the highest and lowest
scores into account
