Maths Flashcards
Do students learn maths in secondary schools in Vietnam?
Well, for sure.
Maths is a compulsory subject that students has to do it in secondary schools curriculum.
There is a misunderstanding that some knowledge in maths is impractical. Regardless, maths helps you develop your creative and logical thinking, which are beneficial in the long run.
Do you think maths is difficult?
Well, I think it really depends on each person.
Some people really excel in math classes while others, like me, tend to struggle a bit more with learning marth.
To improve my math score, I used to spend lots of time preparing for the test.
What can people do with maths in their daily life?
Without a doubt. We can’t get by without knowing the basics of maths. Take personal finance. For example, we need to have a good grasp of our income and expenses, otherwise, we can easily overspend and end up in the red.
On top of that, people need to know how to add and subtract, which is used in daily life. For instance, when we go shopping, we can control our money.
Do you learn marth now? Why?
Well, to be honest, after graduating from university, I haven’t taken another math class. It’s not because I hate math. I only use math in life and at work. I just don’t feel it’s necessary for me to spend more effort on sharpening my math skills anymore.
What did the teacher do to improve your math? Are the methods interesting and useful?
Well, I was pretty lucky that I had a good math teacher when I was in middle school. The most interesting technique she used to help us improve our math skills was applying basic theories to real-life problems. Like she taught us about probability by demonstrating why buying lottery tickets is a vain attempt to get rich.
