Definition of management
4 functions of management
Planning, Organization, Directing, Monitoring/Evaluation
Establishment of goals for the organization and its members, as well as the identification of the actions needed to achieve those goals.
Planning
The organizing function of management involves the identification of tasks that must be completed to achieve the goals identified in the planning process.
Organization
A successful manager will direct employees to put forth their best efforts when implementing the action plans that have been created by the organization.
Directing/Motivation
Evaluation of employees, workgroups, or the organization on the progress that has been made toward achieving established goals and objectives.
Monitoring/Evaluation
do you have knowledge of operations, activities, and processes necessary to accomplish organizational goals and objectives.
Technical skills
involve aspects of leading, communicating, motivating, and dealing with all aspects of employee relations daily.
Human skills
the ability to conceptualize how all the different parts of the organization fit together so that the established goals and objectives can be achieved.
Conceptual skills
involves a process whereby intentional influence is exerted by one person over other people to guide, structure, and facilitate activities and relationships in a group or organization.
