5-10% Potassium hydroxide (KOH) examination: “Spaghetti and meatballs appearance” of hyphae and yeast cell clusters.
* Colour contrasts with KOH : Methylene blue stain, Ink blue stain

Culture on Sabaroud’s dextrose agar:

low growing ( 1 -2 weeks)
* Modified SDA supplemented with fatty acids
* Shiny and white→turns cream→becomes dull and beige
