Main Parts Of The Heart Flashcards
What side of the heart carries deoxygenated blood?
The right side of the heart carried deoxygenated blood to the lungs
What side of the heart carries oxygenated blood?
The left side of the heart carries oxygenated blood around the body
What are the 4 chambers of the heart?
The 4 chambers are:
- Left Atrium
- Right Atrium
- Left Ventricle
- Right Ventricle
What does the Atrium do?
The Atrium collects the blood entering the heart.
What does the ventricles do?
The ventricles pump blood away from the heart either to the lungs or around the body
What does the bicuspid valve do?
The bicuspid valve is between the left atrium and ventricle. The bicuspid opens due to pressure.
What does the tricuspid valve do?
The tricuspid valve is between the right atrium and the right ventricle. The tricuspid opens due to pressure.
What does the semilunar valve do?
The semilunar valve stops the back flow of the blood into the heart
What does the Aorta do?
The Aorta carries oxygenated blood away from the left ventricle to the body
What does the Vena Cava do?
The vena Cava carries deoxygenated blood away from the body and back to the heart.
What does the pulmonary artery do?
The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood away from the right ventricle to the lungs.
What does the pulmonary vein do?
The pulmonary vein returns oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.
