Sonata form but themes are developed in the recapitulation and with offstage brass vs. onstage piccolo, flute and timpani
Orchestra
Mvt 3: Unison contrabassoon, low horns, harps and double bass finish. Starts with timpani ‘solo’.
8 brass players off-stage. Inclusion of organ and tubular bells.
