Q

List the contraindications of MRI

A
  • Pacemakers
  • intracranial aneurysm clips
  • foreign metal objects
  • orthopedic hardware
  • Large tattoos (due to high iron content in pigments)
  • Cochlear implants
  • Kidney disease
  • allergy to contrast/iodine

Q

List Pros and Cons of MRI

A

o Pros:
- Excellent resolution of all soft tissue
- No exposure to ionizing radiation

o Cons:
- Very expensive
- Poor for visualizing bone
- Time consuming process
- Troublesome for patients who suffer from claustrophobia unless using open scanner
