Convoy Operations

A
  • The responding squad will move in a convoy from the rally point to the incident or the Staging Area.
  • Leaders will develop a contingency plan if other vehicles are lost during convoy.
  • The sergeant or team leader will be in the lead vehicle for command and control purposes with a designated driver.
  • The sergeant or team leader may receive additional information while en-route to the scene and will need to communicate it to the strike team, (Pull over to the side of the road).
  • The sergeant or team leader will keep the strike team together.
  • Drive in safe and prudent manner so as to not lose the trailing vehicles.

“IN THE BOX” Squads

A
  • Squads specifically assigned daily to respond to MACTAC incidents.
  • Each area command will have one “In the Box” Squad assigned and on-duty each day and per shift. Squads who are “In the Box” will be annotated on the daily line up and should be reminded during normal pre-shift briefing.
  • Once these squads leave their rally points they are considered MACTAC squads and can be broken down further into strike teams and buddy teams.
  • All CCAC and Airport Area Command personnel are always considered “In the Box”, but will not leave their assigned area commands.
  • Officers assigned to “In the Box” squads that do not arrive at the Rally point prior to the squad leaving, will not attempt to catch up or follow their squads, but will be reassigned to the “Stay at Home Squad.”
  • NO SELF DISPATCHING.

  • If communication is lost within an area command, all area units will respond to the area command station for accountability, and command and control.

MACTAC Strike Teams

  • MACTAC Strike teams consist of four to five commissioned officers, which is similar to the current model employed by the U.S. Military Infantry Forces and are the base of the current LVMPD Active Shooter Team.
  • The Strike team is designed to fight as a team and is a tactical element within the MACTAC Squad.
  • The Strike team is designed as a self-contained team, which can act independently from the MACTAC Squad.
  • MACTAC Strike teams are lead by a Team Leader (TL) who is a senior officer or an officer designated by the supervisor with highly proficient tactical skills
