4) Officers MAY after notification and approval of a watch commander exercise discretion regarding continuing with the booking process if it has been determined the arrestee needs medical assistance. That determination is made by booking sgt and CCDC medical services vendor.

a) If an officer chooses not to book an arrestee, they MAY call for private medical transportation. Officers will not make the decision to release the arrestee without ensuring that the arrestee has been provided an option for obtaining medical care.
B) If medical condition is not life threatening, the officer MAY transport the arrestee to the hospital or ER and release them to the care of the hospital personnel. WILL not just drop off the subject at the front door.
C) The officer MAY cite the arrestee prior to releasing them to medical personnel or the officer will submit for an arrest warrant before end of shift.
D) If an arrestee signs against medical advice with medical personal they may leave and the officer WILL NOT interfere.

  • Sufficient probable cause
  • Adequate articulation of the actions of the defendant constituting the charge. Each element of the crime must be clearly stated and supported by facts.
  • Quality of the report.
  • For felony and gross misd arrests, reviews LVMPD 124 for completeness, ensure it is attached to the top of the AR package and completes the lower portion
