What happened in Act 1 scene 3?
Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches for the first time. They tell them prophecies and what will happen to them in the future.
What does Banquo think of the witches?
He is very wary of them and he is unsettled as they have beards.
What prophecies do they tell Macbeth?
They tell him three things: that he will be Thane of Glamis (which he already is), Thane of Cawdor (which the audience knows he is about to become and King.
What does ‘if chance will have me King why chance may crown me without my stir’ tell us about Macbeth?
It tells us that Macbeth is starting to think about killing the King and he is becoming greedy and wants power.
What prophecies did the witches make about Banquo?
They said that his sons will be King
