Q

What does CIVIL mean when it comes to capacitors and inductors?

A
  • when it comes to capacitors (C) the current (I) leads the voltage (V)
  • when it comes to inductors (L) the voltage (V) leads the current (I)
  • this is all about sine waves

Q

What is reactive power?

A

Energy that gets stored but not used
Q=VxI
Yes its the same formula but it has a phase shift of 90

Q

What is apparent power?

A

This is the sum of true power and reactive power but as there is a phase shift you cant just add them together
(To get this you have to use Pythagoras)
