M3.9 Flashcards
What are capacitors?
They are components that have a certain desired capacitance
What is a dielectric?
It is a material that insulates the capacitor from each other
What affects the charge of capacitor?
- plate size
- distance between plates
- the applied voltage
(The absorption charge is proportional to the applied voltage)
In capacitors how do they improve the practicality?
Instead of having two large plates they have several smaller plates side by side
What is the dielectric?
It is the material that s put between plates to increase the strength of the electric field in the capacitor
What is the rinciple of charging a capacitor?
The initial current will be extremely high and the voltage will be extremely slowly
What happens to the voltage when a capacitor starts to charge?
The voltage rises
What is the battery voltage?
The voltage of a resistor and capacitor together
The higher the capacitor voltage, the lower the resistor together
