organizational environment
The internal and external elements (people, organizations, forces, etc.) that affect an organization.
general environment
consists of technological, political, legal, economic, sociocultural, and international forces
task environment
Stakeholders that are external to the organization, but interact with the organization on a very regular basis
i.e., customers, suppliers, and competitors.
internal environment
Consists of the owners, management, employees, and corporate culture.
corporate culture
the values and norms shared by members of the organization.
Technology
consists of machinery, equipment, and tools that are developed from scientific knowledge for commercial or industrial purposes
Technology drives competition through increases in efficiency and effectiveness.
Legal and political forces
External forces that influence the business environment through changes in:
government,
laws, and
regulations.
economic forces
refers to the fundamental strength of local, regional, national, and global economies
Economy:
the availability of capital (money) and labor, of a region or country.
Sociocultural forces`
Trends that evolve from changes in the demographics, lifestyles, and values of a society.
ie: health, more retirees, environmental concern
International forces
consist of competitors, customers, suppliers, and markets around the world that influence an organization’s operations.
stakeholder
a group or individual who affects and is affected by the actions of an organization
Internal stakeholders
Employees and business owners
External stakeholders
customers, suppliers, competitors, strategic partners, communities, governments, and special interest groups
Employees
Individuals that work for an organization in exchange for financial compensation.
owners
Individuals or groups that legally own all or a share of a company.
