What makes cultural institutions so resistant to change?
The fact that cultural institutions are integrated and often interdependent.
Explain cultural diffusion
Cultural diffusion occurs when different cultures adopt values ideas and ways of life from different cultures, or even entire cultures.
Acculturation
Acculturation occurs when alien traits diffuse into a culture and replace the majority of its traditional cultural patterns.
What happens to immigrants when they are assimilated?
They become joined into the culture and understand the culture’s layers, thus becoming fully integrated members of it.
Explain stimulus diffusion
Stimulus diffusion is when an idea, originally from one culture, diffuses outward and is adopted by another culture but is changed.
How can changes in the environment affect cultural change?
Changes in the environment could affect a group of peoples’ geographic location and by extension, their practices and ways of living.
