The social sciences are scientific because they are rooted in the scientific method.

Ethnology is the study of the behaviors of different groups of people.
Define Ethnography
Ethnography is a study of a culture at a specific time.
What relationship do archeology, ethnology, and linguistics have with each other and with cultural anthropology?
Archeology, Ethnology, and Linguistics are a part of cultural anthropology. Archeology and ethnology are closely related as archeology is an extension of ethnology into the past, and linguistics studies one of the most important aspects of a culture, its language.
Explain the approach anthropologists use to study cultures.
They immerse themselves in other cultures by living among the people, speaking the language, and participating in daily activities.
Explain the following statement: “Anthropological research is interdisciplinary as well as cross-cultural.”
Anthropological research can draw from many different fields (psychology, economics, etc.). But the best insights have come from fieldwork done by researchers on other cultures, hence “cross-cultural”
Why is limiting geography to the “study” of maps a misrepresentation of the discipline?
Geography mainly studies where things are and why they are found there. They attempt to understand the characteristics of things on Earth and uncover the reasoning behind why things are found where they are.
What decisions that people make are of particular interest to economists?
The services people consume and the way they spend their time.
What is politics at its most basic level>
The struggle of who gets what, when, and how they get it.
What word would summarize the study of Sociology?
Groups.
Three reasons people should study history:
It offers information on how people and societies behave.
Gives perspective on how things can change.
Allows us to understand how to build a society that can endure these elements of change.
What are the aesthetic grounds for studying history?
Studying history in the form of art and entertainment.
