Lymphoma Flashcards
Types of Lymphoma (architecture)
Diffuse
nodular/follicular –> no mantle zone or germinal centers / bcd-2 +
appearance of cells –> based on cellular maturity
high grade lymphoma (working formula)
resembles acute leukemia
can cure
can die quickly if not cured
Large Cell Immunoblatic / Burkitts (small non-cleaved cell)
low grade lymphoma (working formula)
resembles chronic leukemia
cannot cure
smolders for years
SLL / Follicular lymphoma
Types of Lymphomas (WHO)
precursor B periph B precursor T periph T NHL
Marginal Zone lymphoma
MALToma
assoc w/ ongoing autoimmune process
H. pylori –> adenoCa and MALT lymphoma
low grade can be cured surgically
NHL
multiple periph nodes
noncontiguous spread
Waldeyer ring and mesenteric nodes commonly involved
extranodal involvement common
Hodgkin Lymphoma
localized to single axial group of nodes
orderly spread
mesenteric nodes and Waldeyer ring rarely involved
extranodal involvement uncommon
