what does the lymphatic system do
collects fluid that leakes from blood vessels because of high pressure and returns it to the circulatory system
what is the lymphatic systems structure
it consists of a network of lymph capillaries joined to larger lymphatic vessels, and lymph nodes
what happens in lymph vessels
some fluid leeks out of the arterial end of the blood capillary due to high pressure
what is lymph
excess fluid that flows through lymphatic vessels before returning to blood
how does lymph move through lymphatic vessels
it is pushed along the lymph vessels by the squeezing action of skeletal muscles to prevent a back flow of lymph
what are lymph nodes where are they found
oval shaped structures found on lymphatic vessels and are involved in protection against infection
how does lymph filter through lymph nodes
it travels through spaces in the lymph nodes which destroy desiese causing materials like debris and foreign particles. it traps bigger particles like bacteria in mesh fibres in the lymph node
