what is a cardiac cycle
events that occur in one singular heartbeat
what is the pumping phase of the cardiac cycle
systole is when the heart muscle contracts which empties the blood from the heart
what is the filling phase of the cardiac cycle
diastole is when the heart muscle relaxes and fills the heart with blood
what is the contraction of the atria called
atrial systole which forces blood into ventricles
what is the contraction of the ventricles called
ventricular systole which forces blood into arteries

it is a tendon that opens and closes valves of the heart
