What are the main functions of the Lymphatic system
1.Collects interstitial fluid and returns it to the blood stream at the subclavian veins. 2. The Lymph nodes filter lymph removing bacteria, viruses, abnormal cells and cell debris
What does the Lymphatic system consist of
Lymph, Lymph vessels, Lymph nodes.
What are the main parts of the Lymphatic system
Bone Marrow, Spleen, Tonsils, Adenoids, Appendix, Lacteals, Thymus gland
What is Lymph
Lymph is a clear fluid that is collected from around cells and is transported by the lymphatic system back to the bloodstream.
Name two diseases of the Lymphatic system
Lymphoedema, Hodgkin Lymphoma
What is sinusitis
It is an inflammation of the sinuses ( the air space cavities found in the face)
What is oedema
It is a condition where there is an excess of fluid in the intercellular spaces of the body that cannot reach back the circulation
What is immunity
The ability to resist infection
