Lymphoedema
Diagnosis: Painless swelling, lymphangiography, radioactive isotope studies
Treatment: Remove constriction, elastic bandage or stockings, affected limb elevated, diuretics, surgery, antibodies
Lymphangitis
Diagnosis: Visual inspection, blood tests(leukocytosis), cultures of infected tissues
Treatment: Systemic antibodies, elevate the affected area, arm and wet dressings, surgical drainage of purulent of material
Hodgkin’s Disease
Diagnosis: Node Biopsy(Reed-Sternberg Cell), blood studies(mild, normochromic normocytic anemia, neutrophilic, Leukocytosis, lymphopenia, eosinophils), elevated ESR, bone marrow biopsy, CT scans, Liver and kidney function tests
Treatment: Stage I&II(Radiation, chemoradiotherapy), Stage III&IIIB(Combined chemoradiotherapy), Stage IV(Chemotherapy), Relapses(Additional chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation)
Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
Diagnosis: Physical exam, excisional biopsy, bone marrow aspirations, biopsy, lab tests, blood tests, renal and liver function, chest radiography, CT, GI endoscopy, MRI
Treatment: Indolent(watchful waiting, chemotherapy, radiation), Aggressive(chemotherapy, radiation therapy), Relapses(high dose chemotherapy, bone marrow transplantation), periodic follow-up
Transfusional Incompatibility Reaction
Diagnosis: Chills, fever, hives, back pain, dyspnea during transfusion, analysis of blood and urine
Treatment: Stop blood transfusion, antihistamines, more aggressive treatment for anaphlaxis
