clinically with visualization of erythema migrans (EM)-red ring like or homogenous expanding rash.
serological tests will be postive during disseminated disease.
what are some sx of acute/early disseminated stage of lyme disease
in addition to constitutional sx:
Cardiac manifestations- conduction abnormalities, myocarditis, pericarditis
Neurologic Manifestation-
bells palsy or cranial neuropathy, meningitis, encephalitis
What does late disseminated stage of lyme disease present as?
same as acute disseminated with the addition of rheumatologic manifestations-
transient effusion in one or multiple joints, pain in tendons, bursae, muscle, and bones.
prophylaxis for lyme disease (post exposure or chemoprophylaxis)
doxycycline 200mg
