Lungs and Heart Flashcards
What is the sublaryngeal airway called?
the tracheobronchial tree
Where is the trachea located?
superior mediastinum
At what level does the trachea bifurcate?
Transverse thoracic plane
What does the pulmonary trunk from the right ventricle bifurcate into?
right and left pulmonary arteries which
what do pulmonary arteries divide into ?
Lobar and segmental arteries within the lung
Where do bronchial arteries come from?
thoracic aorta
What do bronchial and pulmonary veins do?
drain blood that comes from the bronchial arteries
What does a pulmonary embolism cause?
actue respiratory distress
What makes up the right (acute) border of the heart?
SVC, right atrium, IVC
What makes the inferior border of the heart?
right ventricle
what makes the left (obtuse) border?
left ventricle
Where is the oblique pericardial sinus?
posterior to the heart
What part of the heart is the moderator band in?
Right ventricle
What and where are the tricuspid valve sounds?
They project to the midline and to the LEFT side of the sternum at the FIFTH intercostal space
Describe the Mitral valve sounds? Hint***its the nipple one
project to apex of heart at the 5th intercostal space below the left NIPPLE
Describe the aortic semilunar valve sounds?
Projects to the right of the sternum over the 2nd intercostal space and also can be auscultated in the neck over the carotid artery
describe Pulmonary semilunar valve sounds
Project to the left of the sternum over the 2nd intercostal space. The murmur produced by a patent ductus arteriousus can best be auscultated just lateral to this point
What does the right coronary artery branch into?
Sinoatrial Nodal Artery, R Marginal Artery, Posterior interventricular artery
What does the left coronary artery branch into?
Anterior interventricular (LAD) and circumflex artery
What does the circumflex wrap around?
the left auricle
What do you find the Great cardiac vein with?
Anterior interventricular artery
which veins does the right atrium receive?
Anterior cardiac veins
