Channel Direction
Originates in middle jiao
Descends to connect to large intestine
Returns upwards to pass cardiac orifice of stomach and traverse the diaphragm
Penetrates the lungs
ascends to the throat
Passes obliquely downwards towards LU-1 where channel emerges
ascends one rib space to LU 2 in center of hollow of delto-pectoral triangle
descends along anterio-lateral aspect of upper arm, lateral to heart
Passes along anteriolateral aspect of the forearm toward the styloid process of radius
follows lateral border of radial artery to wrist
traverses thenar eminence to terminate at radial side of thumbnail LU 11
Branch from main channel at LU 7 travels to radial tip of index finger to like with LI 1
Lung Channel Origin
Middle Jiao
Lung channel termination
Radial side of thumbnail - LU 11
Lung channel movement
Descends to LI then ascends to throat, then to lung 1, up to 2, then down the arm to wrist then thumb
Lung Luo channel branch
separates from the main channel at LU-7 and travels down radial side of pointer finger
Lung Channel Hand
Taiyin
What channels is the branch of the lunch channel
Lung Luo-Connecting channel
TCM Function of the Lungs
Governs qi and controls respiration
Controls descending and dispersing (similar to stomach)
Regulates the water passage

Points on LU Channel will…
Affect local areas
Treat rebellious lung qi: cough, wheeze, SOB, asthma
Restore D&D function
Treat nasal disorder
Treat throat disorder
Treat edema and urinary issues
Treat vomiting due to rebellious stomach qi
Lung 1 point significance
Front Mu of the lung
Lung 1 Location
Laterosuperior to the sternum, 1 cun below lung 2, at level of first intercostal space, 6 cun lateral to to anterior midline
Lung 1 Needling
oblique 0.5-0.8 inch toward lateral aspect of chest
Lung 1 Cautions:
Deep perpendicular or oblique insertion carries risk of pneumothorax
