Lung anatomy Flashcards
lymphatic drainage of lungs
from the pleura to the hilum of the lung, to bronchopulmonary nodes
then into tracheobronchial (found at bifurcation) and then to the paratracheal and mediastinal lymph trunks
finally into brachiocephalic veins
where are the parasympathetic ganglia located
pulmonary plexuses and bronchial tree
parasympathetic fibres innervate
smooth muscle in bronchial tree and pulmonary vessels and the pulmonary glands
also carry sensation from the stretch receptors in bronchial muscles, inter alveolar connective tissue, baroreceptors in pulmonary arteries and chemoreceptors in pulmonary veins
sympathetic fibres innervate
innervate smooth muscle of the bronchial tree, pulmonary vessels and secretory glands of bronchial tree
parietal pleura innervated by
phrenic and intercostal nerves
parts of the body drained by the thoracic duct vs. not
not drained by thoracic duct = right arm, right side of neck, right side of head and right upper abdomen
what is the region not drained by the thoracic duct drained by
the lymphatic duct
where does the thoracic duct drain into
start of the left brachiocephalic vein
where does lymph from the head, neck, arms thorax drain into
left jugular, sublcavian, mediastinal trunks-> thoracic duct or large veins
right side trunks -> directly into large veins
