What is the strainer in the sump for?
It’s a coarse gauze to protect the pump
How does the pump receive power?
Through the belt and pulley arrangement
What does the strainer do?
Collects and filters oil from the sump due to suction created by the oil pump
How does the oil reach the pump?
Through suction
What happens after the pump has sucked up the oil?
Supplies oil to the filter with high pressure
What is the purpose of an oil pressure regulator?
Keeps the oil pressure maintained at a certain level
What happens after the oil is filtered ?
Oil flows through oil lines to galleries to lubricate the moving parts of the engine
What does an oil sprout do?
Sprays oil upwards to lubricate the piston and its parts inside
What are the types of oil pumps?
Gear type
Eccentric
What are the 2 types of pressure relief valves in an oil system?
Ball type
Plunger type
What type of gauze is in the strainer
Coarse to protect the sump
What happens to the oil in a full flow filtration system?
100% of the oil is filtered
