LSP Flashcards
Kemps test
Positive test is when there is a pattern of radicular pain in the thigh or leg after compression
* Indicating compression on the nerve root
Positive test is localised pain
Tests for acute inflammatory lesions, local sprain/strain, facet irrititaion, or spinal fracture
Slump test
Positive test is reproduction of symptoms - shooting or electrical leg pain
Tests for increased pressure on th nerve root
Positive test is localised lumbrosacral pain
Tests for acute inflammatory lesions, local sprain/strain, facet irrititaion, or spinal fracture
SLR test
Positive test is radicular pain leg pain and localised low back pain
Radicular pain = compression on nerve root
Localised LBP = piriformis entrapment, SI/lumbar strain/sprain, SI inflammation
70 degrees + = tightness of the hamstrings, gluteus maximus, or hip capsule, or pathology of the hip or sacroiliac joints
30-70 degrees = L4-S1 disc herniation, presents as neurological symptoms
Femoral nerve traction test
Positive test is radicular pain in the anterior thigh
Tests for femoral nerve or root compression (L2-L4)
