Clarks Test
Positive test is retropatella pain
Tests for Chrondromalcia patella, and degeneration of patella femoral joint
Apley’s compression test
Positive test is pain on compression and rotation
Tests for meniscal damage
Appley’s distraction test
Positive test is increased pain on distraction
Tests for capsule/ligament lesion or colateral ligament sprain
McMurray’s test
Positive test is pain or crepitus when knee is extended
Tests for meniscus lesion
Tibial internal rotation = lateral meniscus
Tibial external rotation = medial meniscus
Ege’s test
Positive test is pain or crepitus
Tests for meniscus lesion
Tibial internal rotation = lateral meniscus
Tibial external rotation = medial meniscus
Thessly’s test
Positive test is medial or lateral joint discomfort
Tests for meniscus lesion
Anterior draw test
Positive test is pain or excessive motion (rupture)(tibia moves more than 6mm)
Tests for ACL spain/rupture
Posterior draw test
Positive test is pain or excessive motion (rupture)(tibia moves more than 6mm)
Tests for PCL spain/rupture
Lachman’s test
Positive test pain or excessive motion or by a ‘mushy’ or soft end feel when teh tibia is moved forward on the femur
Tests for ACL/PCL sprain/rupture
Considered as the gold standard
