Scour’s test
Positive test is increased local pain or crepitus
Tests for hip joint pathology, OA, capsulitis, labral tear, acetabular impingement, or slipped capital femoral epiphysis
FABER’s test
Positive test is increased local pain or inability to perform test
Tests for hip joint pathology, OA, capsulitis, spain/strain, or tight hip adductors
FADIR’s test
Positive test is pain or reproduction of symptoms
Tests for anterior-superior impingement syndrome, anterior labrum tear, or iliopsoas tendinitis
Posterior labral tear
Positive test is local groin pain, or reproduction of symptoms with/without click
Tests for labral tear, anterior hip instability, or posterior-inferior impingement
Trendelenburgs sign
Positive test is when the pelvis drops on the opposite side, indicating a weak gluteus medius or an unstable hip (dislocation)
Tests teh ability of the hip adductors to stabilize the pelvis on the femur
Obers test
Positive test is TFL contracture or pain at the hip
Tests for a tight ITB or trochanteric bursitis
