Lower Limbs - Week 8 Flashcards
what kind of bone is the patella?
sesamoid
how do you side a patella?
lay it flat on the table with the apex facing away from you and the anterior side facing upwards. whichever side it falls to is the side that it is from
medialcolateral ligament
prevents femur from sliding and adducting the tibula
anterior cruciate ligament
notch on distal femur and extends forward, prevents displacement of tibula anterior and femur posterior
valgus angle
angle on the femur that points away from the knee joint

function of tibial plateau
flexion and extension of the femur, medial side is larger
tibial tuberosity
patellar ligament inserts here
intercondylar eminence
prevents sliding medial-laterally
