Lower limb fascia Flashcards
Iliopsoas Fascia
in iliac fossa
begins as psoas fascia at medial arcuate ligament
continues as iliac fascia until inguinal ligament
forms the iliopectineal arch
Pectineal fascia
below inguinal ligament
covers pectineal muscle
together with iliac fascia the floor of iliopectineal fossa
Deep fascia
investing the whole lower limb
limits expansion of muscles
making contraction more efficient
compress veins to push blood upwards
Fascia Lata
deep fascia of thigh
attaches to: inguinal ligament, pubic arch, pubis body, pubic tubercle, iliac crest, sacrum, sacrotuberous liament, ischial tuberosity, exposed bones of knee
Laterally strengthened and reinforced- Iliotibial tract
3 intermuscular septa: lateral, medial and posterior
Gluteal fascia
covers gluteus maximus
merges with fascia lat
Crural fascia
thick superiorly and thinner distally
interosseous membrane
2 intermuscular septa: anterior and posterior
Dorsal fascia of foot
dorsal of foot
makes inferior Y-shaped Extensor retinaculum
Plantar fascia
strong middle part- plant aponeurosis
vertical intermuscular septa - 3 compartments
