  • Local magistrates thought 50,000- 60,000 were present and concerned about a riot so they assembled over 1000 troops and special Constable’s
  • Henry Hunt was ordered to be arrested and 15 killed, 400 wounded in struggle

  • The radical press was a huge success Political register was a mass audience and Leeds mercury was more respectable
