Loose Connective Tissue Flashcards
Connective Tissue function:
Connect & cushion structures, organs, Store fat
Defend body from infections
Repair tissue damage
Connextive tissue cells are NOT tightlt packed and are seperated by?
The matrix that consists of ground substance and protein fibers that is liquid or solid depending on the tissue
Proteoglycans:
Carbohydrate molecules in the Matrix
The matrix contains what 3 fibers?
Elastic
Collagen
Reticular
Areolar Tissue
Is component of the Superficial Fasica found b/w skin and muscle
Around capillaries
Adipose (Fat) Tissue:
Found in the Superficial Fasica
Attached to walls of interal organs
Stored as yellow bone marrow in bone cavities
Adipose Cells
Packes tightly together w/ little matrix
Filled w/ mainly fat nuclei & cytoplams on side of cell
Serve as fat pads to comfort joints
Reticular Tissue
Forms a supportive framework for organs in the lymphatic system
Very thin reticular fibers
Lymph nodes Thymus Spleen Liver Kindey
