Long term affects Flashcards
What are the 4 long term effects of exercise?
1) cardiac hypertrophy
2) bradycardia
3)increased stroke volume
4)ability to tolerate lactic acid.
What is the definition of long term ?
These are changed which occur as a result of a long term training programme.
Why does cardiac hypertrophy happen?
The Herat grows in size and strength.
This makes the heart more efficient .
Why does are ability to tolerate lactic acid change?
Trained athletes can tolerate the build up of lactic acid for longer, meaning that they can work at high intensity for longer.
Why does our stroke volume increase?
Due to cardiac hypertrophy the heart is able to pump more blood per beat.
Why does bradycardia happen?
When a person resting heart rate is below 60 beats per minute.
