Q

Why did the London docks go into decline?

A
  • dock was too small (an increase in ship size meant that big boats couldn’t fit in the port)
  • the dock mostly had factories used for manufacturing (these were moved abroad e.g. china as things are easier to be mass produced at a lower cost
  • younger population leaving as they went to get jobs elsewhere, where there was more opportunities
  • transport links were poor to central London (people couldn’t come in and out easily so money wasn’t spent e.g. businesses)
