How many acres is the Ohio Bird Sanctuary?
90 acres of land
Visitor Center
Visitors enter here to go into the bird display area. It houses the gift shop, public restrooms, bird care staff offices, and rehab intake.
Education Center
Used for field trips, camps, and other large onsite education programs. Also houses the Education Staff Office and Executive Director Office.
Treehouse Classroom
Built in 2021, this classroom is located up in trees and is used for educational programs and events.
Apollo’s Hideaway Field Classroom
The Field Classroom is used for smaller, onsite education programs such as field trips and camps. In front of the field classroom is our Outdoor Amphitheater that is used for outdoor programs.
Naturescape
Natural play area for visitors as well as school groups, camps, etc.
Bird Barn
Behind aviary; recovery ward for rehab birds.
Flight cage
large enclosure located in the southwest part of the property near Orweiler Road. This is where birds are in flight conditioning prior to release.
Aviary
Where permanent resident songbirds live and are free-flighted. Visitors may enter the Aviary to view and feed the song birds.

What occurs in the clinic at the Ohio Bird Sanctuary?
Food preparation takes place here. Located on the north end of the Visitor Center. It has outdoor access only. This building also includes four bird enclosures.
What information is necessary to know in the Gift shop?
We accept checks, cash and credit cards. Prices are either on the sign, can be found on the register, or marked on the tag. Extra inventory can be found in the office closet.
Barred Owl Trail

Located behind/around song bird aviary and other bird enclosures; goes by treehouse and ends slightly pas it
Red-shouldered hawk Trail
0.8 miles
leads off between the north end of the education center building (back) and the beginning of the naturescape area
Has inner loop connecting to the Barred Owl Trail, and outer loop connected to the Wood Duck Trail and Barred Owl Trail
Pathway behind Appolo’s Hideaway Field Classroom
Wood Duck Trail
0.75 miles
goes along the Clear Fork River
connects off the south end of the Barred Owl trail and the outer loop of the red-shouldered Hawk Trail
Chickadee Trail
0.2 miles
Small loop off of Wood Duck Trail on south end (to left of bird enclosures)
