Foot Baths
A
-stategically placed between mews
- step into foot bath before entering mew
- step into foot bath after entering mew
- few locations have spray bottles of HDQ solution rather than foot baths

Tools and instruments
A
- any tools used for raking and cleaning mews need to be disinfected before being used in another mew (rakes, scrub brushes, etc.)
- any instrument used for treating a bird needs to be disinfected directly after use (scissors, forceps, tubes, etc.)

Dishes and Diet Preparation
A
- food bowls need to be washed and disinfected after birds fed
- washe dished with regular dish soap and water
- then soak in tub od dilute HDQ
-rinse dishes off after disinfected - store clean dishes in drying racks

Crates and Cages
A
- after travel crate i sued, the newspapers should be thrown away and box should be sprayed with HDQ and wiped down
- all crates used for rehab birds are stored SEPARATELY from crates used for education birds

Baby Birds
A
- wash hapnds before feeding baby birds (songbirds, raptors, etc.)
- each individual baby should have own set of tweezers/forceps used for feeding, as well as own food supply (same tweezers/forceps and same food supply can be used for a single nest of babies/siblings!!)
- wash hands before and after feeding each baby, especially before moving on to feed another baby
