LLP Flashcards
What does a LLP provide?
Additional pumping capability at incidents and is useful where access Cabot be gained by main pumping appliances
How many firefighters have to carry the LLP?
4
Plus additional for ancillary equipment
What else can a LLP be used for if water supplies are inadequate?
Water relaying, boosting or individually to fight fires
Can also be used to remove water, such as flooding incidents
Technical specifications of LLP?
Weight etc
Weight 84kg (with full tank of fuel)
Engine - 4 stroke 18hp petrol
Fuel - unleaded
Pump - single stage centralfugal
Output - 800lpm at 5 bar
Max output - 1000lpm at 4 bar
Max duration - 1.5 hours at 5 bar with full tank
Max pressure- 8 bar

Battery - 12 volt (sealed)
Primer - manual
What is unique to the LFB on the LLP?
Yellow carry frame
Max pressure of LLP?
8 bar
Flow rates and pressures of LLP?
800 lpm at 5 bar
1000lpm at 4 bar
Safe working practices when working with the LPP?
Full PPE to be worn when moving and operating.
LLP only to be used in open air, and not inside or confined spaces.(due to emissions)
LLP must always be lifted by at least 4 firefighters
Make sure ground is free from obstacles and sharp objects that may damage fuel tank
Make sure priming valve is CLOSED if water supply is pressure fed
Under no circumstances is vacuum to be maintained for longer than 3 minutes without water as this causes damage to primer.
LLP no to be run against closed delivery.
Engine is NOT to be started unless pump casing is full of water or the pump will sieze in 30 secs.
Only to be operated on LEVEL ground, as pump has tilt switch.
Operation considerations?
Area around pump will become wet and should be considered. Site pump on hard ground if possible
Personal floatation devices of close to water
Lighting of dark
Tidal levels of pumping from tidal waters
Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide. Should not be used inside or confined spaces
Noise levels are very high, wear ear protection
Good communication of crews
Parts of pump will become very hot
If refuelling, nitrate gloves must be worn.
LLP can provide max flow rate for 2 delta branches when used with dividing branch lo
Where and how should an LLP be sited?
On level ground, and clear of any debris and sharp objects that may damage fuel tank
Should the engine be started before water in pump?
NO under no circumstances.
Can damage the pump
When starting the engine manually, if it does not start after five pulls, what should you do?
Close the choke and try again.
When should the LLP be tested?
Upon acceptance
After operational use
Weekly
Quarterly
And annually at workshop
Weekly examination of LLP?
Check oil/fuel levels, and dipstick and fuel caps are secure
Check entire unit for corrosion, damage and defects
Check condition of carry frame and rubber handles
Check handle to manual primer is secure
Examine pump to ensure no fuel leaks
Check function and condition of valves, instruments and gauges
Examine condition of manual pull start cable and handle
Check condition of delivery outlet
Check condition of strainer at inlet
Check condition of 2 way collector head and suction hose and fittings
How to clean LLP?
Clean damp cloth.
NOT running water as may damage electricals
