Tissue
A group of cells carrying out the same function.
Organ
A group of different tissues that carry out a special function
System
A group of organs working together.
Organelle
Small structures that carry out specific roles within the cell.
Cell Membrane
Surrounds the cell and let’s things in and out
Cytoplasm
Jelly like substance containing the organelles.
Nucleus
The control centre of the cell,contains DNA(genes).
Light microscope
The type of microscope we use in class.
Specimen
A sample studied under a microscope.
Cell wall
Strengthens the plant cell, not present in animal cells.
Chloroplast
Contains chlorophyll, a pigment used to absorb sunlight to make food.
Valcuole
Membrane bound structure to contain liquid, animal cells have small ones, plant cells have larger ones.
Electron microscope
Microscopes that pass beams of electrons through a specimen,allows for greater magnification.
Micrograph
Image formed by an electron microscope.
Population
Individuals of the same species.
