What are the two types of worship?
Liturgical worship and non-Liturgical worship.
Why is worship important?
Praise God and respect and thank him for his character such as his kindness and power.
They can ask forgiveness of their sins about areas of their life where they aren’t living a good christian life.
Reminds Christians of beliefs and traditions especially saying set prayers that christian throughout history have used.e.g Lord’s Prayer

Definition of sacrement
Important Christian ceremonies showing God is at work in the world
What is taking a sacrement in life seen as?
Seen as an outward sign of God’s grace in the life of a Christian.
It has to be established by Jesus.
Sacrements in different denominations?
Catholics beleive there are 7 sacrements decided by the Pope
Church of England believe there are only 2 sacrements- baptism and eucharist.
“there are two sacrements ordained of Christ our Lord… baptism and the Supper of the Lord”
Some protestant churches don’t recognise sacrements at all
Differences in baptism
Catholic and Anglican celebrate the baptism of infants Quakers and Salvation army do not baptise
Baptists and Pentecostal baptise adults only so they can choose and aren’t forced.
Difference in Eucharist/Lord’s Supper?
Catholics believe bread and wine will change into blood and body of Jesus when it is blessed on.
Anglicans believe the bread and wine are symbolic of Jesus’ death.
Baptism
‘Baptise people in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit’ an instruction form Jesus to his followers.
Confirmation
Confirming their commitment to their faith in Jesus
Reconciliation or Confession
The sacrement of forgiveness where they confess their sins.
Holy communion
Jesus instructed his followers that whenerver they eat bread or drink wine they should ‘do this in remembrance of me’
Why do Christians pray?
They want to pray to their fther hin heavan who they beleive will listen to them and answer their prayers.
Adoration- praising God for the things he has done
Confession- saying sorry for their sins and asking for forgiveness
Thanksgiving- thanking god for all he has done for them
Supplication- asking for specific needs from him
Informal prayers
Evanglical and Pentecostal where prayers aren’t often written down.
It is spontaneous as led by the Holy Spirit
Bible says: ‘Pray on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests’
set prayers
Found most in Anglican and Catholic Churches
Most famous in the Lord’s Prayer is Matthew 6.
Why is pilgrimage important for Christians?
Strengthen their faith in God and become closer to him through reflecting and praying
Shows commitment to God as it takes time, planning and effort
strengthen the feeling of cmmunity and fellowship as they will be with lots of other beleivers
Pilgrimage is not obligatory
They don’t have to go on pilgrimage to be a chriatian because to be a christain they only need to beleive that Jesus died for their sins.
‘God loves the world that he gave his only son… whoever beleives in him shall not perish but have eternal life’
Divergent views on pilgirmage
Protestants beleive it is not the central art of faith
Catholics believe it is vital part of christian life and their journey to heaven and a time of refreshment and renewal
‘Pilgrimages evoke our earthly journey toward heaven and are very special times of renewal in prayer’

Why are people missionaries?
Jesus said: ‘go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation’

‘Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care.’
