ask patent to hold breath (so I don’t puncture pleura or lung) and I insert needle into 9/10th right intercostal space in the midaxillary line

What si biliary colic?
cause by spasm of the smooth muscle of the gall bladder in an attempt to expel the gall stones
what is acute cholecystitis?
pain the right upper quadrant - may cause subdiaphragmatic perietal peritoneium irritations - supplied by phrenic n. = referred pain to right shoulder
what can happen from an obstruction of biliary tree?
obstructive jaundice
pancreatitis
what is the 1,3,5,7,9,11 regarding spleen?
Spleen dimensions are 1 inch x 3 inches x 5 inches.
Weight is 7 ounces.
It underlies ribs 9 through 11.
whats a splenic rupture?
most frequently injuried organ in the abdomen - hemorrhage ALOT –> shock– must take it out Splenectomy!
what is splenomegaly?
disease affecting the reticuloendothelial system - portal hypertension can cause this - seen in sickle cell patients

what can pancreatic cancer cause?
may cause obstructive jaundice - retention of bile pigments, enlargement of gall bladder. Growth may compress portal v. leads to portal hypertension
