what is the importance of the lesser sac?
• Perforation of the posterior wall of the stomach – maybe by a gastric ulcer – can lead to spilling of gastric contents – inducing peritonitis → pancreatitis

what type of arterial structures does the ileum have?
Less prominent arcades

what happens to the taenia coli at the rectosigmoidal junction?
- taenia coli becomes one continuous layer of muscle instead of three discrete bands
- taenia coli also thickens which helps with fecal expulsion
where is the stomach derived from?
foregut
where is the duodenum derived from?
foregut and midgut
where is the small intestine derived from?
midgut
what does the thoracic duct drain?
the lymph of lower half and upper left quadrant of the body and ALL the viscera
what lymph drain the large intestine?
SML and IML
What lymphatics drain the stomach?
pancreatico splenic, left gastric and right gastroepilpoic nodes –> celiac group
what lymphatics drain the duodenum?
pancreatico duodenal group –> celiac group
where does the vagus n. give parasymp. until?
the left colic flexure then it becomes pelvic splanchnic (S2-4)
what are common with portal hypertension?
butt - rectal
gut - esophagus
caput - paraumbilical
