What is lithology?
A
Describes the mechanical and chemical properties of rocks

What are coherent rocks?
A
Rocks with interlocking crystals, strongly cemented particles, few lines of weakness, resist erosion, support steep angled slopes
E.g. Most igneous and metamorphic rocks

What are incoherent rocks?
A
Rocks that erode more easily, resulting in low angle cliff profiles (Can be vertical due to slumping as a result of undercutting by wave action)
E.g. Clay and sands
