Q

Stable Approach Criteria

A

All approaches should be stable by 1,000 feet above TDZE and MUST be stable by 500 feet RA with the exception of bank angle for a circling procedure.

  • Aircraft in landing configuration.
  • Target final approach speed + 10/- 5 kt.
  • Rate of descent less than 1,000 ft per minute for a 3 degree or nominal 3 degree approach (visual approach). The rate of descent limit may be increased by 150 fpm per 0.5 degree that the published approach path exceeds 3 degrees, e.g. approach path between 3.0 and 3.5 degrees the limit is 1,150 fpm.
  • Aircraft on correct lateral and vertical flight path. In the case of ILS or LOC approaches, this means that the aircraft must be with ± 1 dot of the LOC/Glideslope.
  • Bank angle less than 15º.

Q

Max APU operating altitudes?

A

Eng start 20,000’
One pack up to 22,500’
Two packs up to 15,000’

Air bleed extraction for wing anti ice is not permitted.

If in flight it becomes necessary to start the APU, we should consult the FCOM or QRH for limiting factors, rather than rely on memory.
