Electrical COPY Flashcards
What is the normal AC power in the aircraft?
115/200V three phase 400Hz
What is the normal DC power in the aircraft?
28V DC
What is the normal generator output?
90 KVA
What is the emergency generator output?
5 KVA
How many generators are required to power the whole electrical system?
One
How many Transformer Rectifiers are there?
Three.
TR1 and TR2, and in addition the Essential TR
What is the priority order of electrical sources?
- Engine Generators
- External power
- APU Generator
- Emergency Generator and Batteries
What is the difference between green and black CBs?
Green CBs are monitored. 1 minute out will trigger ECAM.
What is the purpose of the static inverter?
Transforms DC power from battery 1 into 1 KVA of single-phase 115V 400Hz AC power to power the Essential AC bus.
When is the static inverter activated?
Above 50kts, regardless of battery switch position, if only the batteries are supplying power to the system.
Below 50kts, both battery switches must be on.
How is an open line contactor displayed on ECAM?
No green line
How are the generator line contactors controlled?
By the Generator Control Units, GCUs.
How can a generator fault circuit be reset?
By selecting the respective generator pushbutton switch OFF.
What is indicated by a FAULT light on the generator pushbutton switch?
- GCU detects fault
- GLC open, except with the switch in OFF position.
What is the significance of an IDG FAULT light with associated ECAM message?
- IDG outlet oil overheat (>180)
- IDG low oil pressure
When is the FAULT light inhibited on the APU GEN pushbutton switch?
- APU speed low
- EXT PWR or ENG GEN has priority
When is APU GEN displayed in amber on the ECAM elec page?
With APU master switch ON and APU GEN pushbutton switch OFF.
How is AC ESS BUS normally powered?
By GEN 1 through AC BUS 1
What happens with the bus tie contactors with the BUS TIE switch in the OFF position?
Both will open
When does the ACC ESS SHED BUS automatically SHED?
If only battery power is available.
What is the indication that the ACC ESS SHED BUS has automatically SHED?
SHED displayed in amber on ECAM below AC ESS BUS.
What is powered by the Galley and Cab PB switch?
- Main galley
- Secondary galley
- In seat power
- IFE
When is the Galley and Cab powered?
- Generator 1 and 2 operating
- APU generator supplying
- EXT power supplying
What happens to the galleys in flight with only one engine generator supplying?
- Everything shed except secondary galleys.
What are the commercial loads?
- Cabin and cargo lights
- Water and waste systems
- Drain mast ice protection
- Galley
- IFE
- Semi-automatic cargo loading
What is the max output from the TRs?
200 amps
With the BAT switches in AUTO, when will the batteries connect to the DC BAT BUS?
- During APU starting
- Voltage <26,5V
- Also connected with loss of all power below 100kts.
What is the significance of a BAT pushbutton switch FAULT light?
- Charging current out of limits
- Line contactor open
How is the DC BAT BUS normally powered?
By the DC BUS 1
How is the DC ESS BUS normally powered?
By the DC BAT BUS
When will the TR line contactor automatically open?
- Overheat
- Minimum current
When will the DC ESS SHED BUS automatically shed?
When DC ESS is supplied by BAT 2
What happens automatically in case of a failure of TR1 or TR2?
ESS TR will power the DC ESS bus instead of DC BAT bus.
What is the purpose of the Battery Charge Limiter?
- Monitors battery charging
- Controls respective battery contactor connecting battery to DC BAT bus
Which buses would be lost with the failure of both TR1 and TR2?
- DC bus 1, DC bus 2
- DC BAT bus
What happens to the emergency power configuration on the ground?
Below 100kts
- Batteries are connected to the DC BAT bus
Below 50kts
- AC ESS bus is shed leading to loss of all displays.
When would the AC ESS FEED pushbutton FAULT light illuminate with associated ECAM?
When the AC ESS bus is unpowered
What is the effect of pushing the GEN1 LINE pushbutton?
- Opens GEN1 line contactor.
- GEN1 keeps running but only powers 1 fuel pump in each wing tank.
Is there a difference in operation when manually extending the RAT on the HYD panel or the EMER ELEC panel?
Manually extending the RAT via HYD panel will not start the emergency generator.
How long is RAT extension and generator coupling?
8 seconds
What is the minimum battery voltage during check?
25,5 volts
During flight with battery only, how long will the battery power last?
Approximately 30 minutes
