Definitions Flashcards
1
Q
Actual Landing Distance
A
Distance to come to a complete stop from a point 50ft above the landing surface
2
Q
Required Landing Distance
A
Regulatory landing distance used for dispatch.
It is based on Actual Landing Distance multiplied by a
regulatory coefficient:
RLD (Dry) = ALD / 0.6
RLD (Wet) = 1.15 x RLD (Dry)
RLD (Contaminated) = greatest of [1.15 x ALD (Contaminated) or RLD (Wet)]
3
Q
Windshear
A
Sudden change of wind velocity and/or direction, it can be recognized by:
- Indicated airspeed variations in excess of 15 kts
- Groundspeed variations
- Vertical-speed excursions of 500 fpm or more
- Pitch attitude excursions of five degrees or more
- Glideslope deviation of one dot or more
- Heading variations of 10 degrees or more
- Unusual autothrottle activity
