Indicating and Recording Flashcards
What are DMC’s and how many are there?
Display Management Computers. 3 in total.
Which DMC normally drives which display?
DMC1 drives CPT PFD and ND, and both ECAM displays. DMC2 drives F/O PFD and ND.
DMC3 is standby.
What are the inputs to the two FWC’s?
Flight Warning Computers receive inputs from either the two System Data Aquisition Concentrators (SDAC) or directly from the system sensors.
How can the ECAM SD be viewed if the lower ECAM DU fails?
By either using the ECAM/ND XFR switch to display the SD on either NDU or by pushing and holding the related system page pushbutton.
Can the ECAM/WD be viewed if both ECAM DU fails?
Yes, by using the ECAM/ND XFR switch to display the ECAM/WD on either NDU.
Will a failed ND automatically be transferred?
No. But can still be viewed by using the PFD/ND XFR pushbutton.
Can ECAM SD’s still be viewed if both ECAM DU’s fail?
Yes. By first using the ECAM/ND XFR switch to display the ECAM/WD on either NDU, then by pushing and holding the related system page pushbutton.
When is the DFDR activated?
- In flight
- On the ground after first engine start,
- For 5 minutes after the electrical network is energised,
When is the ECAM T/O memo displayed? Disappears?
2 minutes after the second engine start. Disappears when T/O power is set.
When is the ECAM LDG memo displayed? Disappears?
Below 2000’ with the gear down. Disappears after touchdown with groundspeed below 80kts.
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 1?
Electrical Power on - 1st Engine Started
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 2?
1st Engine Started - 1st Engine to T/O power
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 3?

What is the beginning and end of flight phase 4?
80kts - Liftoff
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 5?
Liftoff - 1500’
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 6?
1500’ - 800’
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 7?
800’ - Touchdown
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 8?
Touchdown - 80kts
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 9?
80kts - 2nd engine shutdown
What is the beginning and end of flight phase 10?
2nd engine shutdown - Electrical power off
How is a primary failure indicated on ECAM?
Boxed red or amber message
When is the ECAM T/O inhibit active?
Phase 3-5 (T/O power set to 1500’)
When is ECAM LDG inhibit active?
Phase 7-8 (800’ to 80kts)
How can ECAM caution messages cancelled by EMER CANC button be recalled?
Press RCL button for 3 seconds.
When if the Target Airspeed displayed in blue or magenta on the PFD?
Magenta - Computed by the FMGC
Blue - Manually entered on the FCU
When does altitude alert activate?
Deviation >200’ or 750’ away from selected altitude approaching.
Is altitude alert always accompanied by an aural warning?
Not approaching selected altitude with A/P engaged.
When is the amber box around V/S readout displayed?
When inertial data is not available and the readout is barometric only.
When is TRUE displayed above heading tape?
> 73°N and <60°S
When does ILS flash in amber on the PFD?
If approach is armed but ILS not displayed on the PFD.
What is the deviation scale on L/DEV V/DEV scale?
100’ vertical per mark, 0.1nm lateral per mark
When is mach number displayed in the PFD?
With mach >0.5
How is Vls shown on the speed tape?
Top of the amber band.
How is the alpha protection speed shown on the speed tape?
Top of the black and amber strip.
What is represented by the green dot speed? When does it appear?
The speed corresponding to best lift-to-drag ratio. Appears when flying in the clean configuration.
How is VR shown on the speed tape?
Cyan circle
When is the altitude alert inhibited?
When the slats are out or with the gear selected down, or after G/S capture.
When is the Backup Speed Scale displayed?
If all ADRs are turned off.
