Lift and drag curves Flashcards
Lift and drag does not only depend on the angle of attack but also on what 4 things?
1) the shape of the airfoil
2) The plan area of the airfoil (or wing area) -S
3) the square of velocity (or true airspeed)-V^2
4) The density of air
What does the symbol CL and CD represent?
CL represent lift coefficient
CD represent drag coefficient
What does CL and CD depend on?
They depend on the shape of the airfoil and may alter with the changes in the angle of attack
What is the lift-drag ratio?
It is used to express the relationship bet. the lift and drag
How is the lift-drag ratio obtained?
obtained by dividing the lift coefficient with the drag coefficient
(CL/CD)
What is CL maximum wing degree of angle of attack?
18 degrees
What is CL degree for its stalling angle before it decreases?
18 degrees
How rapidly does the degree for CD increase for the angle of attack?
14 degrees
What is the lift degree CD completely overcomes at the angle of attack?
22 degrees
What is the degree angle that (L/D) reaches that obtains the most lift and the least drag?
0 degrees
What degree those the C.P move forward until?
It moves forward until the 12 degree angle of attack
At what degree those the C.P reach and decrease back?
It reaches 18 degrees and start to move back
