A

Someone who counsels & encourages clients through personal/career challenges
Psychology/therapy focuses on past, LC focuses on future
Find strengths from weaknesses
Set goals, then find obstacles & opportunities

1st session - discovery session & free
3rd session - usually breakthrough

What are the social benefits of being involved in Sport, Clubs & other leisure organisations?

A

Friendship - make new friends & learn social skills, how to overlook teammate with bad attitude & empathy for teammates

Respect - learn to respect & honour coach’s decision & teammates. It will also give something to achieve goals & improve in, building self-confidence/respect

Strong work ethic - kids who participate in team sports more likely to be active, hard working students & better future workers, as sport teaches how to be disciplined, focus on task at hand & have patience when times get tough

Perseverance - team wont always win, ref wont always make right call & they’ll deal with disappointment, so they’ll gain willpower & endurance through hard times

Courage - build self-esteem, develop leadership skills
Majorly important for young girls as this is another way to feel important rather than looks & popularity

Name & examine which research methods could a lifestyle coach use to obtain info from clients

A

Interview:
Could use structured interviews - interview follows a pre-set course of questions
Questions set in advance of interview, so interviewer able to obtain information required
Lifestyle coach needs to keep focused to prevent interview becoming ‘a chat’ & relevant info miss
Interviews may cause client to become anxious due to face to face nature

Questionnaire:
Questionnaires ideal method of gathering primary data if lifestyle seeking info deemed sensitive
Time used effectively as clients can complete the questionnaire at their leisure
Questionnaires can be analysed quickly, therefore enabling lifestyle coach to get started with client
Unless carefully set out & appropriate questions asked, client may not provide info lifestyle coach needs

Observations:
Observation can be important & useful option for lifestyle coach to use as it allows them to see what is really happening in the life of the client
Observation enables lifestyle coach to gain in-depth understanding of lifestyle of the client
Observations are very time-consuming and labour intensive for the lifestyle coach
