a term for all the diseases to do with the heart heart and blood circulation
What is coronary heart disease?
Results from atherosclerosis of the coronary arteries, which supply the heart muscle with oxygenated.
Name four effects of training on cardiovascular disease.
Reduce the levels of cholesterol
Decrease blood viscosity and resistance to blood flow
Increase coronary circulation
Decrease body fat
What is a stroke?
caused by a blockage of an artery to the brain.
What is a heart attack?
A blockage in a coronary artery, cutting off oxygen blood flow to an area of cardiac muscle.
What are two respiratory diseases?
Asthma
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
What is asthma?
Characterized by constriction of the bronchial airways and inflammation of the mucous membranes, which restricts airways.
What can regular training do for respiratory diseases?
Increase respiratory muscle
Decrease resting and submaximal frequency of breathing
Maintain full use of lung tissue and elasticity
Increase the surface area of alveoli.
